A line of dachshund puppies are so confused by a human mimicking canine howling that they tilt their heads comically from side to side to try and figure it out with a fourth appearing from the back. Canines often tilt their heads in order to hear more clearly as the ear becomes more exposed in an up-and-more-forward position. If the sound comes from in front of them they will cock their head in the direction of the sound. Age and experience can affect a dog’s reaction in such a scenario.
