  1. Love your Video! We are getting our Mini Wirehaired baby from a California breeder in 4 weeks. We can’t wait!

  2. Want another one. Brought one back from Germany in 1983 and he has since passed after leaving many children and grand children around. But I again want another pure breed one. How can I purchase one? Where and how much, will be my last dog due to age so really need to get one in the near future.

  3. Of course their reasoning for why they still breed is completely off. Even if it were the case that there would only be dogs that needed rescued would come into the world (which would not be true), that still doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be helping solve that problem, nor contributing to it. Also, just because those dogs won’t end up in a rescue shelter (and some very well might), that does not mean the next generation won’t.

  4. I have a four year old standard wire and she is a real character, checks the boss of the eight year old Irish water Spaniel!

  5. I love the way you describe them. The wire haired doxies are definitely the clowns of the crew. I have a long haired English cream myself, Annie, and she is is as glamours as any Hollywood blonde bomb shell and knows it! I love dachshunds so much! They’re just hilarious and bring so much joy. Half a dog high, and one and half dogs long.:)

  6. Just wanted to thank you for this well done video. nice to see something positive on breeding and showing especial wirehair dachshunds.

  7. My grandma used to breed and raise these, not only as pets but active hunting and show dogs.    Unfortunately she’s too frail to do it anymore, it really affected her a lot that she had to give it up.   I’ve been around these type of dogs since 1981, love ’em to bits.

  8. I have one and his name is Brillo, he is a real dude. Love him to bits he is 1 year old now and he never misses a trick

  9. They are beautiful I love them. I also feel the same way you do to, about breeding I rreally feel that way when you say about good dogs. I love your way of thinking.

  10. We have a long-haired mini doxie from a long-time, reputable breeder, and we totally agree with you about good breeders.  Don’t let the nutty Peta hypocrites take a minute of your waking or sleeping time.  We have also rescued a wonderful old German Shepherd that had been hard to find a home for, and he was wonderful to and for us.  Congratulations on having a business that’s also a pleasure, and thanks for sharing with us!  Merry Christmas!

  11. I’m looking for a wirehaired dachshund pup, where are you located? I seem to be having a problem finding wirehair pups. Lots of smooth and long haired. Thanks for any info, I just love them:)

  12. I have bred and owned mini smooth doxies for over 30 yrs and I can tell you, your description of wire hair doxies is the same for smooth, they are the silly characters of the dog world and I would not own another breed, or I should say I would not be owned by another breed, I love doxies so much!

I have a 5 month old girl ,my first wire! and Yes,they are special.  My smooth 9 years old,Phoebe, adopted Mini-ma (soo small she might be a kaninchen, her father is) almost inmediately. And the large girl who looks after our safety (I hope) a  Rhodeshian, lets the baby even bite her face !
Love what you do,serious breeders are a MUST when you need to be SURE about the temperament of a dog. Congratulations for your puppies!

  16. "Being the owner of dachshunds, to me a book on dog discipline becomes a volume of inspired humor. Every sentence is a riot. Some day, if I ever get a chance, I shall write a book, or warning, on the character and temperament of the dachshund and why he can’t be trained and shouldn’t be. I would rather train a striped zebra to balance an Indian club than induce a dachshund to heed my slightest command. When I address Fred I never have to raise either my voice or my hopes. He even disobeys me when I instruct him in something he wants to do." — E. B. White

  17. I’ve been trying to find a wirehaired dachshund breeder near me, but haven’t been able to come up with anything. Anyone know a resource that I can use to locate a breeder? The only ones I can find are several states away, and are very expensive. I live in Louisiana.

  18. We have a standard wire-haired Dachshund and a mini Dachshund. I really have a soft spot for the wire-haired breed. They are great. Very affectionate, very cute, they aim to please and are just loves. We had one wire-haired that we had to put down due to a health issue. The lady who gave her to us had another one that we adopted and Spunky is just as sweet as Mira was. If you want a lot of dog in a small package, look into a Dachshund. Whether it’s a standard or wire-haired or mini, you won’t be disappointed.
