Over 100 adorable Dachshunds race to be ‘fastest wiener’
More than a hundred Dachshunds competed in a race called the “Wiener 500” in Washington DC on Saturday.
“She is doing well, she had a lot of cuddles and a lot of treats earlier. I accidentally spilled a little beer on her so I don’t know if that had helped her out a little bit,” said the owner of one of the winners.
The annual event is in its seventh year, brought not only for enjoyment for dogs and owners alike, but also for charitable purposes. Each year proceeds are donated to a local charity, the “Humane Rescue alliance,” according to organisers, and they attempt to find dogs without a home up for adoption at the event.
