I always advise pet owners to have their wires clippered. They can look the same and be so much more comfortable. So yes. Clipper! Just keep the facial and leg furnishings so they still look like a WH Dachshund. I clipper my retired dogs with a number 4 blade in reverse. that makes the coat look nice and smooth.

Donna – what would happen if I shaved the hair of my wirehaired dachshund with clippers? Would it grow back as before? Obviously this would be easier for me than stripping. We don’t show Archibald, he’s simply a pet. I’d like him to be cooler, particularly in our Australian Summer. Thanks, Brett.
