Dachshunds come in three sizes. It is set at the age of 15 months: standard 6 – 8 kg but not more than 9 kg (chest circumference over 35 cm), miniature up to 4 kg (chest circumference should not exceed 35 cm), rabbit lines up to 3.5 kg ( chest circumference – up to 30 cm) Due to the type of hair, dachshunds are divided into: short-haired, long-haired and short-haired. According to these division criteria, we have 9 breeds of dachshunds that appear on dog shows separately and do not compete with each other for the qualification of the champion. This may be due to the fact that these dogs are most often (next to schnauzers) presented at all kennel events. All breeds of dachshunds are characterized, despite their slight differences, by common psychic properties: they are very intelligent, have a lively and at the same time communicative temperament. They attach very much to the guardian. They are characterized by extraordinary courage, strongly rooted hunting instinct and sharpness in relation to the game. Thanks to these features, dachshunds are both nice companions in the apartment or on a walk as well as good hunting dogs. Excellent sense of smell, considerable physical strength, independence, determination of action are the features of a perfect companion on the hunt.
