Dachshunds have an amazing grip with their teeth. There is one I used to play with, and if I threw her a toy she would bring it back to me but wouldn’t let go. I could even pick the toy up to the point the dachshund’s hind legs left the ground, but she kept hanging on like it was no big deal, other than a little growl to let me know she was going to win. They are great dogs.

Dachshunds are small dogs with big hearts. Genetically speaking, you can see the resemblance between the two breeds, despite the size difference. Probably crossed a mini-pinscher with something like a basset hound…then somehow made it smaller.
Dachshunds have an amazing pull and that is because they have such a low center of gravity. If you have one, hold on to the leash and do not underestimate their small size. They can take off before you know it and are not easy to catch once they sense their prey. They are hounds and are relentless when they hunt as that is what they were bred for, not just a "cute little doggy".
