  1. Cute doggie.
He probably thinks there’s a pack of his buddies around. I think the whole howling thing is little more than a frequency range tickling a corner of his brain and he just feels like howling back. It’s probably just a "pack mentality" device kinda like howling coyotes on one hill causing a pack to start howling on a distant hill.
I love the sound of big hound dogs baying at the moon or just communicating with each other. I’d join ’em if I could–as silly as that sounds.

  2. Thats really cute he looks like a giant version of my dog but i know that was hurting his ears i do that to my brothers dog.

  3. Daschunds howling or any other dog howling for that matter isn’t typically out of pain, like some of the mouthbreathers that comment here would like to think.

  4. Dachshunds are the best! Goliath looks like my Sam. I played this for him and you should have seen the looks he gave the computer. LOL

  5. my dachshund hides his toys and if he doesn’t find a place to hide them, he cries!!!! lol its so cute!!!! so we help him hide it lol

  6. @SuperDachshund Agreed. My dachshund does this when someone leaves the house and there are no sounds. Then he just misses us. I don’t think anything’s hurting their ears.

  7. Why the hell do you mess with him like that and cause him to freak out like something is happening?! Dogs are not that smart and they have no idea what’s going on there…..stupid and mean

  8. its so cute! my Dachshund just turned 6 years old and we gave him cake.
its funny how ur dog howls its like all squeky XD

  9. I have to wonder about all these "You’re hurting his ears" comments.
If his ears were hurting he’d probably just get up and leave and find some place away from the siren or howl or whatever.
Isn’t it more realistic to conclude something else? I mean when a dog howls at the moon does that mean the moon is hurting his ears?
