  1. You sir are saying it completely wrong. My friend now thinks shes cooler than me because U agreed with her. Disliked. Ubsubbed. Reported. Blocked. Dick head

  2. Thankyou for posting this. I am sick and tired of hearing pretentious Mrs Bucket women pronouncing it as Dasssh-hunt. I do correct these women, when I pronounce the word in a German accent. They still love to remain ignorant…

  3. I was listening to a creepy pasta and the narrator pronounced it dash-hound. At first I just thought it was a breed I hadn’t heard of before. So I had to check. Now I’ll be giggling for the rest of the day.

  4. Well, all you guys can pronounce it as you like….that word exists in super official zoology books, at max.
I’ve never heard someone say "Dachshund" before encountering it in English – to a German this would actually sound pretty stupid or like something a toddler would say, at best.
They’re called "Dackel", even in zoology actually, as I come to think of it. It’s pronounced "duckelle", with emphasis on the U.

  5. THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU I FREAKING HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE WHO MAKE LPS VIDEOS SAY THIS WORD WRONG OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I have been pretty close, perhaps my German heritage helps. Sometimes it helps to be from the Southern USA. I have been saying: "Dascksund", needing more of the last "H". I guess that is better than the English saying "Dash Hound".

  7. We had dachshund in the family when I was a kid. The other day someone told me that had a dash hound. I told them I had no idea what that was! Then they said "wiener dog" and I said "OOOOHHHH… you mean a dachshund?" Then they looked confused. It’s not a dash hound, people. The above pronunciation is correct. Dash hound sounds like you are trying to Americanize the word.

  8. Hahaha wow, I’ve always pronounced it ‘Dutch-Hound’ but that’s just because of my accent I think. I can’t say it like the guy does in this video. šŸ˜›

  9. thanks for having this video with the correct way to say its name. May sound weird but after my 7 year old told me that my friend "Steve has a weiner" my heart stopped. Then I began asking her questions. Turns out she was talking about his roommates dog. It became of the upmost importance that I look up the proper name and teach her how to say it- without causing alarm. Thanks, scott- a very relieved dad

  10. It is a German word, and therefore if you are pronouncing it "dash-ind" or "dash-hound" or anything similar you are incorrect. In this case, the "ch" is pronounced as an airy gutteral h, similar to the "ch" in the word "loch" (when not being pronounced by imbeciles pronouncing it like the mechanism on your door). Dachshund is pronounced like it is spelled. An acceptable Anglicization would be Dahks-und.

  11. Looked this up to prove my friend wrong. I was right, you don’t pronounce it "Dash-hound". She refuses to change her ways and says she’ll just call it "wiener dog".
