Grumpy dachshund meets new puppy.

Max, the puppy has been trying to introduce himself to the Maggie. She’s not too thrilled with the idea.

  1. get the puppy some chew toys so he has something to do, he’s full of energy at that age and needs some fun!

  2. Poor Maggie feels displaced and needs a lot of assurance ! Who is this youngster? The puppy is adorable but don’t neglect Maggie.

  3. "That’s ok, Maggie. You’ll love him one day." So, did she??? We are bringing home a 8-week-old female doxie to meet our 8 yr old neutered male. Trying not to be apprehensive but you know what they say about old dogs. I hope he’ll eventually accept her into the pack. Max seems to get the vibe Maggie is sending out. Of course, the growling is a pretty good indicator, too!! Would love to hear how it went between these two. Thanks!

  4. It’s always a bad idea when getting a pup with a much older dog… energy level & temperament are much diff. Of course Maggie is stressed. She wants to quietly live out her old age & not deal with a energetic pup. The both cute though.

  5. just be very aware of dack’s long backs so they don’t get bent up in there long backs, I speak from experience, cheers.

  6. Yes, Maggie feel displaced and she has feelings too. Nice new puppy to replace her as she ages. My family did that too. We had 2 older dogs Dachshunds, we got new puppy. We played with all 3, not neglecting them. The older dogs were both 8 year old. Two older dogs now gone. Puppy still with us, aging like the other two. After this puppy, no more precious babies. We are getting on in years ourselves. I
