The Dachshund was named for the German expression meaning “Badger Dog.” It has exaggerated and a weirdly comical appearance. The Dachshund is a very smart and sporty dog that makes an excellent house pet.
This breed has an energetic, pleasant expression. Each of the three coat varieties has special attributes: The coat is shiny and lustrous, with a finer undercoat, providing maximal protection.
Dachshunds have touching and emotional eyes and complex facial expressions, which makes them look funny sometimes.
Their lungs are large for a dog its size and they have a tub-like chest. They have a loud and deep bark that sounds as it is coming from a much larger dog. They can be stubborn and difficult to housebreak. Some owners can opt for house-training, but crate-training is recommended to control it and keep it calm.
