Adorable Mini Dachshunds – Seizures and Aggression

This month is the one year anniversary of my little guy passing away which is why I thought to google to see if this breeder was still active. I purchased him from Cindy. The initial experience of it all was strange. She, also like others experienced, made excuses so I wouldn’t see his parents. She also made a point to tell me that they were in their last year of breeding and that they were going to retire…it’s 9 years later and that clearly isn’t true. My little guy had major anxiety and aggression. I had another doxie when I brought him home and it didn’t take long before he would randomly start viciously attacking her up to 5 times a day. It got so bad that I hired a dog trainer who specialized in aggression to work with him. The trainer told me that it was in his genetics and that the breeder I got him from should not be breeding. Regardless of his aggression I of course loved him like crazy. He had his sweet sides too, but only with me. He couldn’t be trusted around children or other animals. When he was around 3 years old, that is when the seizures started. He was very anxious around everything, even toy cars or anything that he didn’t recognize no matter how much I tried to socialize him. He ended up passing away last year from organ failure at the age of 8. I will never again buy a puppy from a breeder, this is one of the reasons why. I have heard of so many negative experiences with aggression and seizures from this breeder, it breaks my heart that they continue. I wouldn’t trade the time I had with my little dude but I wish he didn’t have to suffer the way he did because of Cindy breeding when she clearly should just do what she said, and retire.
