Our dachshund wears the booties we made for her for the first time. This was our attempt to keep her feet warm in the snow, but it failed miserably.

People need to lighten up. I mean the dog didn’t even wear the booties that long and it kept his feet warm from the snow. It may annoy him because it’s something different and new, he just needs time to get used to it. Unless they are killer bootay socks I think Fido is going to be ok. 😉

If you want to try this again, let her wear them around the the house for a few days before taking her outside. She’ll love them!

I think you’re great owners. It was the thought that counts even if she didn’t like the booties all that much.
Our dog Jude can barely walk one street length when there’s snow on the ground. Her paws start hurting and she sorta just gives up on everything and curls into a ball. Dog booties would be wonderful thing to get her. However, just like your dog, she does the kitten dance. There is no pleasing that dog, but we love her.

What a fuzz about nothing.
First of all; the boots were made with good intentions!
Second of all; ofcourse dogs need to feel their feet on the ground.
But… There can be exceptions. For example; right now there’s snow in Holland. Lots of people sprinkle salt on the sidewalks. This really hurts dog’s feet. So they advice here, to clean the dogs feet immediatly when you come home, or take other precautions. So why not socks! They sell them in the petstore; so it’s not weird, if you ask me!
Dog’s really don’t need so much protection this way from the cold however this is a great idea what with all the salt and other de-icers people put on the pavement.
@ Raven, thanks for the great advice, for teaching them to wear booties, makes a lot of sense, have seen info on making dog booties, I think I saved the website, but I believe someone used baby socks, dipped in that rubber coating, from hardware store, the stuff u dip handles of tools in, for gripping, I never use salt, on back porch, where my dogs walk, never, I learned the hard way, by using it and seeing my dogs limping and holding one paw up, looking at me for help, so , no salt…

my doxen HATES booties…which is unfortunate because she really does need them. it gets so cold outside that she’ll just put her paws in the air and refuse to walk lol

I don’t think this is funny.. The dog needs the feeling, the sensation of four feet to move on.. I think this is inappropriate.. all though it seems harmless.. Dogs don’t enjoy us laughing at them..

to everyone who has that long uncomfortable stick up their ass, i suggest you get that checked out, because this is funny, NOT abuse. how could this b abuse? because his owners are trying to keep him warm? wtf is wrong with you miserable people, get a grip, and a sense of humor. if booties were so harmful why the hell would they have them a petsmart and petco!!!!! my vets dog had on freakin booties!!!! i highly doubt the dog will have to see a shrink after this one, im pretty sure its all of you

I adopted a male Doxie from the shelter about 2 months ago, and I still haven’t gotten him proper booties.
Unlike some people who commented, "OMG THIS IS SO HARSH!!" Blah blah, it’s not harsh. The salt during the Christmas season is FAR more harsh then giggling at a dog who doesn’t know what to do with booties. It protects!
I read online, a good tip for dogs who haven’t worn booties yet, simply use them on the front paws first, and when the dog gets used to it, put them on all 4.

Cold snow isn’t the issue; dogs must have their feet protected against salt.

I think if the booties where something skin tight it might work rather then those bulky things, something elastic with some lining.
To the people who are saying " this is harsh! Take them off poor thing!" Your wrong. Your watching a freaking video about a dog walking funny in booties. In fact, it helps. If it’s cold enough, the dog could get frostbite or refuse to go outside. Think about it ^_^

You want to see dog abuse? Go to your local animal impound lot and watch all the cute doggies and kitties getting gassed to death. This dog is lucky to have such a great home.

damn, even that dog’s been to the snow. but this reminds me of the time we put a homemade cone (ice cream bucket w/a hole in the bottom) on our dog. he found a way around it, so we had to pay the $13 to get a proper one. moral of the story?
get her some proper ones!

On our old hot dog we used vegetable shortning , on his paws ,make certain it does not have sodium in it , it really works at keeping out the snow.

Actually, I think they worked pretty well. They stayed on. She just needs time to learn how to walk in them.
